My ZyXEL U1496+ has just developed a rather annoying habit. When dialing out, sometimes I get a phenomenon that sounds for all the work like PA system feedback: it begins with an echo-like ring to the off-hook click and dialtone, then proceeds to a real squeal sometimes. It doesn't happen every time, so it's tough to put a regular phone on the line and make a call as to whether or not it's the Telco's fault. --- msged 2.07 -=> Tom Hoover wrote in a message to Jon Fletcher: <=- TH> I just bought a used ZyXEL U-1496E, and find that it has a TH> "v5.04f M" ROM. There have been MANY changes and fixes since then... I don't have a complete list of everything since then, but there have been features added to Data, Fax, and Voice modes, and many improvements. It would be worth your while to upgrade. Anyway, the upgrade is $15. You can either mail your chips in, or come in and I'll do it while you wait (only takes a couple of minutes). I live in Mississauga, if that's anywhere close to you. If neither of those ideas are good for you, we could arrange something else for you. --- RA 2.02 ---------------* Origin: Write by Night, New Britain CT, USA (1:142/928@fidonet.org) * Origin: Lava Rock 16.8K V32b ZyXel (905)566-8518 (1:259/438) |
