subject: IP address and Subnet mask

Hello Placido!

The 10 series IP addresses are reserved for those applications, ie. 10.0.0.1
and up. Since this is a class A number you would use a subnet mask of
255.0.0.0
Subnet masking is at the heart of the IP addressing scheme. In order to
understand it you need to learn about IP addrssing in general, the different
classes of IP addresses and the particular way in which binary numbers are
converted to decimals when using subnet masking to order a network.
For a private, non-connected network, non of this knowledge is really needed.
