Mulling over Daryl Stout to STEVE ASHER 09 Jan 2006 SA> DS> America has become "the land of the fee, and the home of SA> DS> depraved". :( SA>It is much the same here. The TV news programs last night were SA>"trumpeting" SA>the usefulness of RFID chip implants in the hand to open doors, log on to SA>computers without remembering passwords, pay for goods, etc etc. Not a lot SA>of "wisdom" to be seen on any of the reports. :( DS> There was a country-western song a few years ago...something DS> about "why can't we hear a good news story"?? 40 years ago, it was "It's good news week, someone's dropped a bomb somewhere..." ... the news is on in the background; US forces investigating a bomb blast (in Iraq?), another bird flu case in Turkey, Hamas up to something, floodwaters in Western Australia, Tamil troubles in Sri Lanka. Not a lot of "good news" among that lot, except perhaps the safe return of a NASA probe.
