My kids both took the MAT in mid-April, in school. The school sent home the
"parent profile sheet" on the last day of school. I took one look at it and
called the school: "where are the actual scores and stanines?" Answer: "the
teachers will pass those out at the parent-teacher conferences next year, and
explain them then."
I simply explained that I am a parent with training in reading those scores,
and would it be possible for me to have a copy of them now. The office asst.
said she'd make sure it was ok with the school and then mail me a copy. Of
course, the thoughts going thru my mind were: look, these are my kids; the
probability of my two returning to that school
next year is still pretty slim and I'd like those scores now; etc. I had the
scores, tho, within two days.
I guess I got off fairly easily on those. It will really remain to be seen, I
guess, on how easily the cumulative folders make it home to me next year.
