It's retailer nature, I suspect;   travel into the NZ back-blocks 
to attend an agricultural show to find optimists armed with a 
serving hatch hacked into the side of a grubby caravan robbing the 
out-of-towners for a small Coke at 2 or 3 times the city retail 
price....

Then nip off to the nearest townlet (Waikickamoocow or some such) 
to find an incence-laden grocery run by immigrant Indians to get a 
2 litre bottle for $2....

I suspect the same goes on the world over.
