//Hi Oleg, //

Once on *19.02.03* you wrote about "To americans" to Olga Zhegulo

Sure. I visit one sometimes. Fans write very smart and romantic essays
about songs of their idol. But in fact forum is a different genre.

 OL> Do you mean the "echolist"?

Mailing list. Very useful thing for discussion in a group by interest.

 OZ>> Fidonet has traditions and _society_.

Well, I came to fidonet because of curiosity: my mate told me about it many
times. And I'm internet-freak too: if I don't know something, I search in
Internet.

RU.ZNATOK nearly died, but all people from the echo moved to mailing lists
still having their traditions.

In my city there is no such community from ~1999, sysop parties are very
seldom. I've never seen my first sysop, but I'm not an IP-point. IMHO, it's
not the matter of technology, maybe a limit of fidonet members number (875
points in Rostov). Maybe simply way of life in Russia has changed: we work
much more now.
It reminds me a monologue from "Notre Dame de Paris": "a
book will kill a bulding". We'd better wait and see.

Bye ..
