wouldn't it be easier to slap a chunk of alluminium (alluminum?) kitchen
foil around the cables and the back of the machine? Attach a flying lead
from some suitable earth point on the chassis and if you really want to
go over the top then trim a piece of insulation from the cables and attach
to the braid too?
Not as smart but quick, easy and relatively effective.
