subject: Guitar for sale

AH>The guitar sounds like what I'm after, I was wondering if it would be possib
AH>for you to send me a photo of the guitar, or if possible, could you find a
AH>photo in a guitar Mag. of a similar instrument?

Will try and find one, or get the missus to. To give you an idea, did
you see "La Bamba"? In the movie where Valens plays with Buddy Holly,
Buddy Holly is strutting the stage with one very similar. I thought it
was a copy of a Gibson, or the Gibson was a copy of the EKO!

AH>If you can't find a photo could you give me a few more details
AH>such as:

AH>Tuners: what sort, are they "open backed" or fully enclosed?

Not enclosed. Open so the screw is visible. Seem to be the originals.
The six tuning keys are also separate units, not 3 joined in a row.

AH>Finish: is this Sunburst or Blonde etc.?
AH>If sunburst, is this cherry, antique, or Tobacco in colour?

I think you'd say the front is "blonde, the back just an even brown, the
sides are brown with a light tan strip running/blending through the
centres of the sides.

AH>How bad is the cracking on the varnish?

Not too bad really. The body is all still quite smooth.

AH>Bridge: is it fixed or floating (held on body by string tension)?

Floating, held on by string tension.

AH>Neck: is it a "dot" neck, or does it have "bar" inlays?

It's got the dots running up the neck at the usual frets, all the way up
to the 19th fret. The bars running across the neck seem to be brass or
something very similar.

AH>Back: is this arched or flat?

The back is not flat, it is lightly arched.

AH>Sorry about the 3rd degree, but I'm interested in buying this, and not havin
AH>seen it you can understand my needing a few details.

Nah, it's not a prob at all.

AH>If you CAN send me a photo,

I'll try and find one for you...
Address and details noted. What price are you seriously looking at if
it's what you want?

Label through the clef holes apparently say:

Modello: 100 ?
Then something in Italian....
Serial No: 88625

The EKO label (transfer whatever) on the front also has
"Made in RECANATI ITALY"

This guitar also has a mother of pearl scratchboard which is supported
by a metal "angle" from the side and then screwed into the bottom part
of the neck of the guitar.

Hope all this info is useful...

Bye

Clive.
