Nope. Version 3.12 costs just as much as 4.11. If you have only one 4.1x 
server
it behaves like a 3.1x bindery server when connecting to the other servers so
that's not a big difference.
Hoever you get a lot of extra goodies with the 4.11 server. See it as the 
start
for eventually upgrading all servers, you can get your feet wet in the pond
before going to the see.
And about those 250 users on the 3.11 server. Do you really need 250 or was 
t
more like 110? That's an other good reason for 4.x. If one needs 110 uses one
can buy a 100 uses licence and a 10 uers license ans simply install both
licences on the server. Beets upgrading with a 150 extra licences if you only
need 10. :-(
