I believe Hollywood has enormous credibility as a purveyor of 
propaganda.  Look at the tremendous effort made in WWII selling war 
bonds, emphasizing patriotism, etc.  Was there ever much anti-hunting 
sentiment before Walt Disney made Bambi, making a generation of kids 
believe animals were human with human feelings and emotions?  Hollywood 
can and does shape the opinions of many people.

But television has replaced motion pictures as the medium most people 
see, IMHO that's a good thing.  TV requires so many hours of programming 
that there's some room for other opinions.
