If the DOS/BBS is actually running under Windows, then Net2BBS and
NetFoss would work.   If its running under OS/2 then SIO could be used.

But if its actually running under DOS, you could use RLFossil along with a
packet driver... or as you mentioned below:

This works well, but a seperate serial port is needed for each node, and
you run into the problem that many doors will only support COM port values
below either COM5 or COM10.
