Hi,

Based on what I had in mind, it could be used with internal or external
protocols. My idea was to allow setting a path based on the extension,
e.g., "{abc gif,c:\picture}" and then being able to use that "abc"
variable in the protocol command line. For example, with the internals,
maybe: "{RZMO %abc}" and with GSZ: "{EXEC gsz port %_por rz -m %abc}".
I just don't know what kind of hassle it would be for Fred to get the
file info prior to opening the file during a d/l. Seems to me it should
be possible, but then, I'm not the one coding {COMMO} :)
CB> Ironiclly, it's size and scripting laguages are two of the things
CB> that got me curious about COMMO.
They were the two things that hooked me 6 years ago. At the time, I was
the proud owner of a 640K '286 machine that had two floppy drives
(720/360) and *no* hard drive. Size was a top factor, to say the
least..hehe.

Jim,

I don't think it would be a hassle for the internal
protocols, it occurs already within the batch protocol routines. It
might be perceived as a hassle by Fred, depending on the sequence of
events in his current coding of internal protocols . But, I
think your idea wouldn't work for externals ... unless there is some
"in-between" macro function created that gets the filename from the
host and then passes control to the {exec }. The "in-between" macro
functions would be (by example) a sort of Zmodem prep routine. Know
that it is Zmodem, get the file info from the Zmodem host, then
terminate.

The idea of strewing files was communicated to me by Kevin
Nathan who described it happening with other terminal programs. The
only universal way I could think of to get certain file extensions
into certain directories was to strew the files after download (copy
them out of wherever they downloaded to). This works no matter what
protocol engine is used. I can conceivably initiate a Zmodem batch
transfer that sends one .GIF, one .ZIP, and one .QWK. If I want
those three extensions in three different directories, there is no
DSZ command that will do it.

BQ> Justin there is a utility that will work with most Shareware programs.

Hmm, I got something even better, I have a utility that will do it, but it
as
to be registered before it will remove them and costs 40$ to register, now
which would you want to do first?
