A message from the author of Maxlist
Dear MaxList user,
MaxList is meanwhile in the fifth year of contiunuous development and has
undergone a transition from a simple file lister to a "Swiss knife"
application with a multitude of features.
At the end of 1994, I released MaxList als Requestware and hoped that users
would honor my efforts on a voluntary basis. Unfortunately, the experience of
the last four years has shown that only around two percent of every hundred
users have reacted accordingly.
                    THIS SITUATION IS UNACCEPTABLE !
                    ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Effective immediately, the free key request option is no longer available.
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Version 3.00 of MaxList will be released in mid-April at the latest. This
version will be SHAREWARE and will NOT function without a key.
Registration of MaxList will cost $ 30. Updates are free. Registered MaxF'req
users can register MaxList for $ 20.
A demo key that is valid for a period of 30 days will be available to test
the program, and can be requested ONCE.
What's new in MaxList 3.00
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Once again, many additional features and extensions that users have
asked for or I felt desirable have been included. Only the most
important points are mentioned here. The fact that any bugs present
in the 2.50 verion have been fixed goes without question...
 - File descriptions can be written to or read from the EAs. A Files.bbs
is not absolutely required, but can be created (Only for OS/2, FAT or
   HPFS).
 - The GFD net control files can be processed. All commands these may
possibly contain are supported. Files to be deleted can be moved into
   a backup directory.
 - Generation of FTP lists (e.g. 00_Index.txt) via templates
 - HideTypeCD and passwords for OK files
 - Redundent entries in Files.bbs will be detected and removed
 - New switches in the configuration that can be used with IF
Further Plans, View to the Future
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Due to the "developed" structure, MaxList versions to date are doubtless
less than ideal from the viewpoint of organization and handling. A
complete re-design of the code and structures is definitely necessary.
For these reasons, I commenced work on the next generation of MaxList a
while ago, and have since finalized more than 50 % of this development.
Parts of the new functionality, for example the EA handling, are already
implemented in MaxList 3.00. Release of MaxList 4.00 is already
scheduled for the end of this year.
Contrary to rumors, DOS, DPMI and OS/2 versions will continue to exist.
A WIN version is also planned. However, the release date for this
 version is not yet final.
There will be a new standard for templates, and this will be gradually
incorporated into all TsC programs. The initial version of this template
language, that is similar to C or Pascal, can already be "admired" in
MXWEBFND (a small search engine for a local HTTP server that will
shortly be released by TsC as Shareware for $ 15).
As always, my door is open for any other questions/suggestions. After
all, users should be satisfied with MaxList. That is my main concern...
