Yea, one thing that i was a little disappointed with was that the 14.4
is not flashable. A "Longer and more usable life before a better modem
comes along"? As far as the life of the modem itself, this one is going
on 4 years old and it works GREAT.
You know, i think 14.4 and 28.8 will remain as the two fastest speeds
for a long time to come, yes, BOTH of them. You just can't really get
anymore out of an analog phone line. Don't think ISDN is an option for
most of us, and probably won't be for a few years. I hear that with most
ISDN services, you have to have a regular modem anyway for the
"up-link", which not only slows it down but means you have to have
another phone line dedicated to the "up-link" (if you used the ISDN
alot).
