Heh... here in Auckland, the New Zealand Herald's readers are all 
agog after reading in yesterday's edition about the Austalian 
correspondent (a Mr Jack Kelly of Elwood) who wrote to the 
Brisbane Courier saying...

"How can the Government allow daylight saving this year ?  The 
drought can only get worse with an extra hour of sunlight."

Not that NZ can claim to be any superior in scientific matters;  
down South,  experts from the National Radiation Laboratory have 
been sent to test a HF transmitter site used to communicate with 
meter readers for the last 20 years - local residents have become 
alarmed that irradiation by electromagnetic forces is responsible 
for massive health problems.....

So much so, that they can't get to sleep on their nice magnet/wool 
mattress covers....
