What drives the Jihad?

what are the reasons behind the ongoing attacks since 9/11, on Europe
and Asia? In Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East, the radical Islam
gained popularity because the respective governments failed to
accomplish their mission of working in the benefit of the people. 
The Islamic movements, whether it is the Muslim Brotherhood, Jamaa 
al-Islamiyya, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or Hezbollah stepped in 
and provided various needed services to the people, like education,
medical care and monthly stipends for the poor families. Their arms
are a declaration of force meant to intimidate the existing
governments and to show the imperialists (a.k.a the US and its closest
allies) that they should be taken seriously, but beside the militant
side most of these Islamic movements do contribute to the welfare of
their own communities.

If the Arab governments had done their work better maybe the extremist
Islam would not have been a threat of such high magnitude. The
Jihadism is not carried out to support the cause of the Iraqi Sunni,
the Palestinians, or the cause of the Muslims in general - it is a
fight to economically and ideologically dominate the world, by ruling
the Golf area and by establishing the great Caliphate. If some years
ago such a thought might have sounded bizarre, if one looks at the
more recent declarations of the Islamic movements, it is easy to see
what their long-term goal is. It is not like they made a secret of it.
