Well, you won't see this til you get back, I imagine, but I hope Florida was
fun. :-)
I walked my feet off today at the annual wearable art show here in San Diego
sponsored by a place called Bazaar del Mundo. FANTASTIC stuff! They have a
great little fabric store there with some really nice de$igner fabrics and
the Guatemala store right next door has wonderful colorful striped Guatemalan
fabrics for sale. I didn't see any fabrics that grabbed my eye this time,
but I did find a great book called "Life Is Not A Dress Size" and a cat
applique pattern with over 21 different cats in it. :-)
Then on the way home, right behind the Bazaar, is a bead shop called The
Shepardess. This place is so good that people fly in from out of state to
attend their sold-out classes.. judging from the many class samples I saw on
the walls, I could see why. W-O-W!!!!! And they sell things like FIMO and
Promat clay, dyeing supplies and silk scarf blanks, all the jewelry findings
you could ever want and antique buttons (many of them on cards telling the
age and where they are from).. Incredible stuff!! I saw mini glass bottles
covered with beads done in the peyote stitch.. really pretty... all sorts of
beaded purses, woven beaded collars, even small dolls made with beads.
All in all, a very inspiring day. :-)
