subject: Ancient network adapter

DR> I got two very old network adapters from a friend.
 DR> Unfortunately I don't have
DR> any drivers and the Win95 drivers don't work either.
 DR> It's a
 DR> [right corner]
 DR> LANtastic 2.0Mb adapter, (c) 1989 ARTISOFT, Inc. USA
 DR> [left corner]
 DR> LANtastic V3.04
DR> Ever heard of this bloody thing?? Where do I get the drivers?
It's a proprietary 2mb per sec. ethernet adapter for Artisoft's Lantastic.
Microsoft networking will not support these. There is/was a Win95 version of
Lantastic, but I don't think it supports these cards either; they're from
several Lantastic versions back.
DR> Moreover I don't understand how these adapters are
 DR> connected with each other.
DR> There are two 'SUB-D' sockets on each, a female and a male one. I could
DR> imagine that you have to connect a female socket on one
 DR> adapter with a male
DR> one on the next ad. - and use the remaining socket to
 DR> connect the next adapter
 DR> and so on...
Yep. Daisy-chain. Like Coax.
DR> Is that right?? If it is, how do I solder such a cable
DR> (which pin on the one
DR> plug has to be connected with pin 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 on the second one)

Might still be cable diagrams on the Artisoft web site. www.artisoft.com
