Winfans. :) Assuming you did want it under software control, it would need a reliable way to interface with the OS. Just monitoring the things with generic tools is trouble enough with all the chipsets out there - having input to the system could cause major problems if your software mistakes the Acme FOO42D for a FOO42A and sends the wrong commands.
