subject: Ancient network adapter

Hi everybody...
I got two very old network adapters from a friend. Unfortunately I don't have
any drivers and the Win95 drivers don't work either.
It's a
 [right corner]
LANtastic 2.0Mb adapter, (c) 1989 ARTISOFT, Inc. USA
 [left corner]
 LANtastic V3.04
Ever heard of this bloody thing?? Where do I get the drivers?
Moreover I don't understand how these adapters are connected with each other.
There are two 'SUB-D' sockets on each, a female and a male one. I could
imagine that you have to connect a female socket on one adapter with a male
one on the next ad. - and use the remaining socket to connect the next
dapter
and so on...
Is that right?? If it is, how do I solder such a cable (which pin on the one
plug has to be connected with pin 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 on the second one) ??
One question after the other...
Thanks a lot.
Yours,
   Daniel
