Sharon,  Since I just started polling this echo, could you give me some more

 Since I do not know the situation you can disregard this part of the 
response if it will not work for you,  If you know the adress where he lives 
(Which from reading the response I would assume that you do) write him a 
letter, have it mailed.. State that you have been looking for him (Be honest 
with your feelings...) state that you would like to meet him (Be general) 
give him your phone number and politly ask him to call you and leave the rest 
in him hands.  Be honest with your feelings, and belive in yourself that it 
will all work out the way you want to... This is the best advice that I can 
give you at this time..
