Answering msg from Paul Edwards to rowan crowe,
on Wednesday June 14 1995 at 08:31
PE>> OH SHIT!!! I stuffed that logic up. I thought I tested it out,
PE>> god only knows what happened. New alpha time! BFN. Paul.
rc>> I thought for a moment you had decided to display all
rc>> characters, including so-called soft CRs, in case they were part
rc>> of the text (in a foreign character set). ;-)
PE> That's EXACTLY what I had decided to do, believing what I had read
PE> in NET_DEV, that the practice of using x'8d' was completely dead.
PE> It appears that it is dead, but not yet buried. So now I only
PE> display x'8d' if the sender uses SOT/EOT, since that explicitly
PE> disallows x'8d' as a formatting character. BFN. Paul.
My original reply to you was half joking but it sounds like the way you
*intended* :) to implement it is quite sensible. Have you got it right yet
though? ;-)
