Re: Bright spots on Ceres By: Roger Nelson to Damon A. Getsman on Fri Feb 27 2015 20:38:11 RN> I think I'm going to side with Dr. Stephen W. Hawking on this one. Which bit that he's said? The bit that it's foolish for naive and undeveloped in spacefaring a race as our own to be broadcasting to the stars? I haven't heard anything that he's said about Ceres in particular just yet. No doubt I'll have to do a websearch as soon as my computer is done swapping here. Or did he have to say something also about the likelihood of a race trying to contact our own? I can't remember which one it was that said it, but I find some credence with the thought that any race available to travel interstellarly would probably take a look at what we're doing and say "Yeah, no, let's consider this a flyover system," if not "Hey, all they're doing is killing each other, we can put these resources to much better use!" --- SBBSecho 2.27-OpenBSD* Origin: Tinfoil.synchro.net - now at FTN (1:340/200) (1:340/200) SEEN-BY: 19/33 34/999 90/1 116/18 120/331 123/500 1406 128/187 135/364 140/1 SEEN-BY: 218/700 222/2 226/0 160 230/150 240/1120 249/303 261/38 100 266/404 SEEN-BY: 266/1413 267/155 280/464 1027 282/1031 1056 292/907 908 311/2 320/119 SEEN-BY: 340/400 393/68 396/45 633/267 640/384 712/620 848 770/1 801/161 @PATH: 340/200 400 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
