Long ago...1998-99  we did a similar thing with linux. The
warehouse people used a Java Swing GUI to enter & find out details re
shipments. Ended up with 3'rd hand (within the company) PC'es running linux
& autostarting X & the JavaApp (autologon on as as user
WarehousePC1 to n etc.).

Still working AFAIK.
