Kurt,
Mt. Whitney is 14,505 feet above sea level and is the highest peak in the
continental United States. It is located in the north east corner of Tulare
County, of which Visalia is the County Seat.

At the top of Park Ridge, 7,516' inside Kings Canyon NP, I cannot get cell
service at all (AT&T). However, there is a Verizon tower there and those
who have that provider has excellent service. I can use my AT&T phone
connected to the WIFI we have there and make calls, send and receive texts.

In the early 1990's, I had a "bag" phone, which was analog, and could make
phone calls in front of the Giant Forest Lodge in Sequoia NP. The lodge is
no longer there.

Sorry, I couldn't resist talking about something in my "back yard".
I bet you had quite a view from there.
