The sidedness isn't an issue, SS drives had one head and a felt pad, DS drives had two heads and one of them was in a slightly different mounting. That's not a problem in most cases as the head select line is not used with the SS drives and the unused state (?) seems to get you the right side. PM> Theres also the question of that offset hole near the middle and PM> formatting etc. Not sure what you're referring to here particularly the first part. Formatting could be a problem, though, if you're trying to put a HD drive in where a DD was before. The number of tracks is wrong, and if you double-step it then you still have a narrower track which could be a bit of a problem if there were data on the floppy written by the older drives. ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 396/45 106/2000 633/267 |
