I've got a 56k modem.  but, as of 2 days ago, it told 
me that I was connecting at 112K  The best I got just 
before that was at 50K  

I haven't changed anything on my side.  But, about a year 
or so ago the local telephone company was going to 
fiber optics.  I think the new system is now up and 
running.  

BTW, at that time, a 30K connection was the best I was 
getting on my end with the 56k modem.
