The only Spanish I really know is the limited words I learnt watching 'Maria'

Here the weather models show the west cost of both north and south islands of
New Zealand getting far more rain than usual while the east coast of both
getting far less. I'm on the east coast of the lower part of the south island
and it's certainly getting dry now. The temps are nutty - some days the highs
are around 12-14 and then on Monday they think we could hit 30.. now that is
unusual and I can only recall a handfull of daysin any given summer when we
may get that kind of temperature spike.

wow... that's a bunch of bad weather and thank goodness for good warning
systems there. Over here I think our metservice does quite a good job but it
seems that extreme weather can quite often be in small isolated pockets and I
suspect it does catch the forecasters by suprise at times.
