You hit that nail right on the head. I insist on using a 3 watt phone with
the antenna on the roof and hands free in the car. My phone calls are
measured in half hours and hours rather than minutes. Holding a handset that
long is a pain. Our last bill had 4400 minutes on it. Because of the second
phone we added to the account, I expect to hit around 6 or 7k minutes this
month.
I have a Mitsubishi Diamondtel 92T and the handsfree is great. Sounds great
to the people on the other end and they sound great in the car.
We just picked up a Motorola TX-400, it's not bad but the HF isn't as good as
the Mits.
A friend of mine got a hands free kit to work with his Motorola DPC-550 flop
phone and surprisingly it sounds great. It's just a $80 thing he picked up at
Sams.
I've been keeping an eye on PCS too, haven't seen anything except handheld
phones for the PCS systems. Hopefully they'll introduce some real phones
eventually.
