following up a message from Dale Shipp to Thom Lacosta:

TL> I believe part of the problem may be that at one time there
TL> was a requirement that a moderator be a nodelisted person.

DS> If so, then that was before my time (1995 or so). I was a
DS> moderator before I was assigned a node number. The person who
DS> was moderator before me never was a sysop or a point.

About the same time I joined fidonet as a point.
I recall more than one moderator that wasn't nodelisted.

TL> The premise was that he/she could be reached via netmail.

DS> That was important. And probably still is -- or reached by other
DS> well publicized means.
MOst of these moderators who weren't listed had netmail access on the
boards they used however.

Regards,
           Richard
