Sorry to burst your bubble but on the registration of my car it says:

Massa ledig voertuig: 950 kg
Toegestane maximum massa aan te koppelen aanhanger:
geremd: 1000 kg, Ongremed: 450 kg.

Mass of empty vehicle and maximum allowed mass of trailer with and without brakes.

Massa (mass) appears to be the legal term here in the Netherlands. Not
"gewicht" (weight).
