From what I remember reading in the manual, there are two ways you can deal
with the water.  Connect the water outlet hose and have it physically run
into a pan or somewhere - or have the A/C unit convert it to water vapor
and shoot out the exhaust.

I took the easy route - convert to water vapor and shoot out the exhaust.  

I have never had a problem with water on the floor or anything - even with
super humid days that we get here in Maryland.  It must really work and
shoot it out the exhaust.
