Replying to a message of Mike Roberts to Bob Ackley: BA>> I called the city and told them that if the owner didn't BA>> show up I'd adopt it. S/he didn't and I did, and now I BA>> have eleven dogs - two of which were dumped out here by BA>> their owners (and all of which weigh 30 pounds or more - BA>> much more in some cases, three of them weigh over 100 BA>> pounds each). I gothrough about eighty pounds of dry dog BA>> food in MR> God Bless You on all counts, Bob.... It must be some real MR> craziness when it comes to feeding time too. Not many would MR> do as You have done and take in more. Many including myself MR> would wish to, but not have the guts to. Some people are MR> just special, those like Yourself.. It helps to be living on an acreage (2 acres) out in the country (and surrounded by 158 acres of corn). Nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile up the road, and a one mile circle centered on my house encompasses a total of eight houses (one of which is mine and two of which are presently vacant - for a measly quarter of a million dollars you can have the one that sits on 10 acres ). Nearest town (Emerson) is about five miles northeast of me. City governments generally take a dim view of people having more than two dogs. I've about hit my limit, I don't think I can afford to feed more than I have now. It's costing me just about $30/week for dog food (up from $23 last January) - and nearly $400/year for vaccinations. The new arrival is going to have to be spayed (with shots and microchip implant (all of my dogs have the microchip implants) about $200). ---* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/331 34/999 53/558 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 SEEN-BY: 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 200 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
