It varies though across Russia.  Anatoli for example comes from an area
where ¨surnames have only been in fashion for the past 2 generations at
best.  Thats ¨why he has 2 'last names'.  One from the area he comes from,
and one from a ¨respected elder.  I forget which is which but they are
Gulidov and Tung and he ¨uses them somewhat interchangably according to
some cultural rules his area ¨follows.
