Hi Bill,
About the VOCAL echo...
BS> Thanks, Valery! I have put in a request to the sysop to get the echo.
BS> If he is able to get it, I will be there.
Wonderful!!! I am writing a letter to NASVO with the information so they
can put it in their newsletter. That should increase the traffic by quite
a bit!
VF>Well, did you know about the Child_Abuse_Issues echo and the
VF>False_Memory_Syndrome echo? You might be missing out on those as well.
BS> Oh, boy. No, I didn't know about those! I don't have too many places
BS> wherein to spread the news; I will mention it to the WITCHHNT list,
BS> and possibly in the next Swan Defense Fund newsletter -- if I can ever
BS> get my piece written.
I know the feeling - too much to do, not enough time to do it in!
I need to get WITCHHNT too. I tried to get it once and for some reason
it didn't go through. I guess I'll have to try it again.
BS> Today marks the fifth anniversary
BS> of the day we reported in to start our sentences, which might explain
BS> the tension we'd felt recently. And soon it's ten years since the case
BS> began. But at least we're on the back side of it now -- enough so that
BS> we sent in visit applications for one of our "clients" (we had
BS> counseled him at length about preparation for prison) who was just
BS> transferred to a prison a few miles away. He is also one of the
BS> falsely accused.
Oh boy. When will this ever end? (Dumb question, I know.) A friend of
mine lost her child to a foster home for one month. The baby was about
10 months old at the time and she has been home for over a year now, but
she (the baby) is still going through a rough time. She can't sleep unless
she knows mommy and daddy are close by. Last December she finally started
to sleep all night, but then when February came around (the anniversary
of CPS taking her) she started waking in the night screaming again. She
is finally starting to settle down again, but it's really hard on all of
them. They too were falsely accused, but luckily they had a judge who
saw through the BS and helped them get their daughter home. They were
really, really fortunate.
I didn't realize just how long your case had been going on, but I knew it
had been a long time. You can count on my help if there is anything I
can do. :) Thankfully our case will soon be at an end. It looks like
another six months and it will all be over (as far as CPS goes anyway).
Of course, the law suits will drag on for a long time and the
repercussions of all of this will last a lifetime.
In case you don't know how we were falsely accused, CPS accused us of
"failing to protect" our daughter and in court we were told that we were
horrible parents who had no business trying to raise children. (That was
said by the judge.) This time the same judge commended us for being such
caring parents, who for the most part were very wise except for a few
instances of misguided judgement. She was referring to my public
speeches and the newpaper articles as situations where I used "poor
judgement". It's funny because my first public speech (there were
only two) was to ask the county (along with 8 other parents) to form a
Blue Ribbon Task Force to investigate how the county handles cases of
alleged child abuse. Our judge is now serving on that Task Force! So,
how was I using poor judgement? The second speech was because of the
retaliation by CPS for my first speech (they accused me of endangering
the safety of my children by going public with information about our case).
In my second speech, there were 5 other parents who spoke about our case
before I did!
In case you missed it, we went to court on 8/18 and won! Our daughter
came home four hours later! Needless to say, we are all ecstatic!
Val
