-=> Quoting Alinda Harrison to Jessica Edwards <=-
AH> Hi Jessica! This is the first time I've seen you in this echo :) How
AH> are you doing? We missed you at Craft Night.
Grin, I know. We had missionary night and potluck to go to at the
church. Figured that was a bit more important . Been working my
rear off here doing xsing and other crafts. Family reunion in 3
weeks. ACK!! I gotta get busier!!
AH> Which parks are you going to? Wapato charges for parking during peak
AH> hours (on weekends during the day) but no one collects the rest of the
AH> time. That's about the only Tacoma park anywhere near you that charges
AH> for parking. There's a few Pierce County parks that do, like Spanaway
AH> Lake...
AH> I have a map of Tacoma parks on my wall...what are you looking for?
AH> There's a couple near Portland Ave., a couple on Mckinley, and just a
AH> few blocks north of Wapato on Sheridan is Ailing Park which has a
AH> wading pool and a playground. Parking is on the street around it.
Took the kids to wapato one wednesday. Was surprised not to see
anyone for parking fees. However, I DO know Spanaway charges :(.
been kinda busy here so still haven't taken the kids to the one on
Portland and 90th. I hope the pool is open by now!!
AH> Dash Point (both the county and state parks) are free for day use,
AH> includinng parking. Dash Point State Park does charge for camping
AH> though...
AH> Point Defiance only charges for parking during special events.
This sounds good. Gonna need directions and a day of planning
ahead. They do allow swimming don't they??
AH> If you're looking for activities, most of the Tacoma parks have
AH> activities for kids during the summer weekdays. If you are there around
AH> lunch time, many of them serve free lunches to the kids and a snack a
AH> little later...you don't need to sign up. Just be there when they
AH> serve.
AH> Also, you may qualify for a Golden Access pass at the national parks
AH> like Mt Rainier. We have one for my son and it's great! It gets you and
AH> everyone in the car with you into National Parks and national forest
AH> parks for free and camping is half price. All you have to do is go to
AH> the ranger station with proof of disability and they'll issue it there.
AH> Heck, with Kirk they didn't even ask for proof. They accepted our word
AH> just on seeing him.
AH> There's lots of free places to go around here. You just have to know
AH> where they are ;)
AH> ...peace...
AH> Alinda Sue...
Yeah and to find the time for it. Maybe after the family reunion we
will have a bit more time. Finances are really bad now and I don't
really have the gas money for anything :( Its worse in the summer
than during the school year. At least we have plenty of crafts here
to keep me sane!! :)
Jessica
... You have to be crafty to get any crafting done around here!
