 Yeah lab benches are the only place, not because it's safe but
because you know it isn't and the occasional belt is an occupational hazard
that you learn to avoid with (hopefully not too much[1]) experience.

[1] A colour monitor anode supply was once nearly too much experience,
fortunately a manager[2] was between me and the wall three feet behind, he
went off muttering something about insurance.
