all of our dogs have gotten /all/ types of bones since they were pups...
they learned how to eat them at a very young age...

yes, this and the splintering part are very true... a dog that i don't know
about? no, i'd not give them chicken, turkey, or guinea bones... only my
animals who i know have gotten them since very early on and who i know know
how to eat and knaw on them without having problems...

of all the dogs we've had, we've only had one who came to us with a problem
from knawing on a bone... she had been working on a t-bone for a while and
came one day with a problem... somehow she had gotten it turned like a
knife and had bitten down on it hard enough to get it stuck between her
teeth like a huge toothpick... it took a pair of pliers to get a good grip
on it and then gently work it loose... that was probably the happiest i've
even seen her... well, other than when she got her morning meals ;)
