MW>Thanks for the reply and the Douglas info. I did the
MW>acceptance tests on over half of our DC-9's so met a great
MW>many of their production pilots.
I ran into others but Dave was the only one that I remember. I assume
that you were in Long Beach quite a bit. I forget the name of the Motel
just across the field where we all stayed while there.
MW>This year was the first time since I retired in '82 that I
MW>missed Sun & Fun. I've been having a bit of a problem with
MW>osteoarthritis in my left hip, and didn't feel I could
MW>handle the Long hike. Last year I went with another retired
MW>AC pilot and a local friend who flew B-29's and B-50's with
MW>the USAF. We accidentally sat at a table in the big mess
MW>hall with a large group of retired United pilots who meet
MW>there each year. The BS flew thick and fast for an hour or
MW>so - you know what it's like when a bunch of us get
MW>together! Hope my problem clears up by next spring, and
MW>would love to meet you there.
Let's do it. I should be back from AZ. by then and I'll get my younger
brother (the Challenger II) owner and we'll all meet there along with
anyone else that wants to come down. We'll just do it for the
fellowship and stop when you get tired. I usually stay at the Sheraton
at the NW corner of I-4 and I-75 and drive over each day.
MW>BTW - I met a retired NW 747 driver who lived a block or two
MW>away from me on Treasure Island a few years ago. Don't know
MW>if he's still here, and can't remember his name!
My NW friend is B-727 and working as Check Airman at MSP. He is former
Southern/Republic Pilot and still lives in Memphis
MW>Glad you enjoyed the ultralight - I've never had a go at
MW>one......Murray
I think they are the most fun you can have "with your clothes on". I
got interested through my brother and his interest but just love it.
However I must say, some of those flying parachutes etc. that they have
wouldn't be my bag. Of course there is the flying lawn mowers etc. I
love that Murphy Renegade. That would be my choice. We'll do
it....Jim....
