It cuts both ways, Rich. If you write it to run well on most platforms, you
need compatability libs to run it on Windows. If you write it to run well
on Windows, you need compatability libs to run it on other platforms.
Personally, I'm quite happy with the performance of the few open source
apps that I use. Though developed on Linux, they generally port to OS/2
with minimal effort. Good thing too, if it were hard no-one would bother
and I'd have to look harder at swapping my systems to Linux.
