Yup, especially since I know less than you about it.  However, I
installed 10.4.9 on two machines -- a G4 iMac widescreen and the new
core2duo. Interestingly the updates were smaller than had been reported:
about 57 MB for the G4 and 99 MB for the core2duo. Update went very
smoothly on both machines and I didn't experience any abnormally long
startup times, only slightly longer to start up the system on the G4. The
speed difference between it and the core2duo  is quite amazing. So far so
good.
