RB>Back in the DC-4 days, maybe also on the DC-6/7, windmill
RB>starts were made on occasion in a remote spot where parts
RB>were scarse. Not with passengers on board, only the crew.
RB>Then taxi back and load the passengers with the engine in
RB>idle.
This would seem reasonable under those circumstances however I was never
associated with this operation so wouldn't know.
RB>AAL tried to make a three engine takeoff here at Denver one
RB>time in a B-707 and they ended up off the runway. They
RB>gave power to the three engines rather than symetrical
RB>power until after VMC. If I recall it was a Management
RB>Crew.
This, I probably would know about. You said AAL but I wish you could
obtain exact information on the exact date and Aircraft Tail number.
The reason this is suspect is that until Deregulation we were not
allowed to fly into Denver. And the 707 was probably gone by
Deregulation so something doesn't make sense here. Was it a Charter?
Could you have mistaken the wrong Company? Could you research it with
the FAA Records and give us the exact information. I do know that it
would have been a Ferry Crew from Tulsa that would have that
responsibility. Our Operation into Denver was exclusively 727 so would
be interested in the FACTS of this case. Thanks....Jim....
