How come the U.S. evangelicals don't know words like "apostasy", 
"tribulation", "Ezekiel 38" etc? (or do not seem to). Still, they
aren't alone there.

Well, the return of Jesus Christ for the Church (aka "the rapture") is
the way of escape, much as Noah's Ark was the means of escape in an
earlier time of judgment.
