SO this is Doghouse? Who is the mod? I wonder why it's (the echo that
is) isn't in the fidoechomail archive online? I was hoping to get a
sampling there.

If this echo is truly about our beloved canine friends, and not 'a
place of retreat to rant over what naughties we did  ..then I'd
like to ask about the shelters I'm looking into.

Petfinder.com is recommended by our local Human Society. The director
advises to read the descriptions carefully.... I look into the category
of shih tzu (and mix)... astounded there are 450 out there waiting for
a better home. Doesn't it just break your heart? Some of these little
dogs were simply given up because the owner got tired of caring for
them. This is a breed that does require more care than most and they
DO have their problems (mostly with allergies). We're going to be
looking in June after our vacation. Our resident shih tzu misses his
older brother as much as we do. (His older brother left us March
31st.. enduring a heart condition. )

You know it's .well.. I don't know how to put this... but it's
'something' to reckon with when a pet acts so ..perky and healthy and
happy as long as that problem he's having isn't acting up. It's like
oh.. I don't know. A punch in the gut? When that 'problem' like a
scourge of time itself, finally wins over no matter what you do to slow
it down.
