A funny story I read elsewhere and thought it would be wonderful to share:

One of the things that has been keeping me busy (and offline) recently, is
that we took on a rescue dog (Sully) at New Year. Before, I go any further,
I should also tell you that Sully is a 2 year old St. Bernard, a breed that
is pretty rare in the UK.

Anyway, you need to know that before I tell you the story:

Last night I took Sully out for his last walk about midnight, and the path
we take goes up the side of the cemetary. The path is kind of raised up so
the wall is waist height and there is a drop down into the cemetary.

Sully was quite happily peeing up the wall when this lad, he was about 17 or
18, sticks his head over the wall and says Boo. I'm not superstitious, and
he didn't even shout it or anything, but it's sitll a dark path next to a
cemetary and it's pretty creepy, he scared the hell out of me. I screamed
and the lad started laughing.

So Sullivan sticks his head over the wall to see what's going on and he's
nose to nose with this lad, and (ever my protector, NOT) proceeds to lick
his face. Did I mention that Sully is particularly slobbery, even for a St
Bernard? If you've never seen St. Bernard slobber, it has the consistency of
slime, and this lad's face was just covered in it.

Well, if you thought I'd screamed, you should have heard him. Next thing
another lad stands up next to him, only he's got a bag of chips (a bit like
fries, not crisps) in his hand. Sully stole the chips and ran off up the
path before I even knew what was going on, now the other lad is yelling as
well. I'm laughing so hard I can't even keep up with Sully who's on an
extender lead. By now there's lights going on in the houses by the path to
see what all the noise is about. So me and Sully ran back to our house,
chips and all.

The whole thing was over in a couple of minutes and I don't think they ever
quite figured out quite what it was I had on the end of the lead. Somehow I
doubt they'll be trying that trick again. Serves them right though :-D

I daren't take him out for a late walk tonight in case they've got a search
party out looking for a bear :-\
