If the machine is on the net with a reasonable connection, go to easyurpmi
& set up the various sources including "main".

You then get the lot & no popping of CD'es. In fact, go to the
"Media manager" part of the URPMI gui & deselect the cd
sources (you can do this via the cli as well).

Often I do a minimal install, set up main, contrib etc & then just
install as I need it.
