subject: Re: IBM 2 move 2 a linux desktop?

From: "Dave Ings"

This is news to me (although the reproduced email looks authentic, doesn't it?)

Given that IBM is in the midst of (finally) transitioning from SmartSuite
to Office, this is kind of odd timing if indeed it's true.

IBM is a very large organisation, with diverse IT requirements, and I have
no doubt that there are parts of the organisation that in the relatively
near future could reasonably run on Linux desktops. But it's very diversity
makes it unlikely IMHO that you would see a one size fits all solution
everywhere in IBM. That's not real world, is it?

But take all these sorts of stories with a grain of salt. After all

"IBM drops Lotus Notes inside" is complete BS.

(I also happen to know Deborah, by the way).
