According to the Serial Number Database at

http://www89405.temp.w1.com/DrakeSerialDatabase.htm>

there was an R-4 s/n 1994.

The first R-4A schematic references s/n 2007.

Drake was not "iron-clad" on changes, i.e., there were at least four
schematic versions of the R-4A, with the first one very similar to the
R-4, (13 tubes,) and the last one very similar to the R-4B, (11 tubes.)

I have two schematics for the R-4. One is 107640001, indicating 10/7/64
- s/n 0001, and another, 29650001 indicating 2/9/65 - s/n 0001. I have
not compared them, but both have 13 tubes.

The early R-4 had some commonality with the 2-B. Does your R-4 have a
6X4 rectifier tube? That could be the 14th tube. I owned one of the
first R-4's, ordered before they were available.

I'd be interested in any information you gather.
