Font smoothing ( XP's Cleartype) really makes a difference also. Red Hat
9.0 and Mandrake Powerpack 9.1 seem to have recognized this with some truly
readable fonts on an LCD monitor. Hopefully the remaining distros will also
focus on this ( SUSE 8.2 etc ).
A pet peeve - with applications Opera for Linux has some of the ugliest
out of the box fonts viewed on an LCD monitor that I have ever seen.
