Concerning _Pro-2005_, Jonathan Guy said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:

Yeah, I've been kinda counting on being about to get all the manuals from
Tandy if I had to.

I had problems with images with the 2040, but the same search bands that were
full of unusable signals on the 2026 were clear as a bell on the 2040.
JG> I live about 1.5 miles from I-75...I don't hear anything from the

On my new 2035, I have to set the squelch a bit lower than usual, but so far
I've found message traffic on channels 10, 20, and 26. Turning the squelch
all the way off and manually tuning through the channels reveals a boatload
of signals that are clear and strong enough to listen to, but too weak to
kick in the squelch.
What type of antenna are you using for CB reception, and what time of the day
are you listening?

Define "out local areas". Once, I found one set of signals in the 800 MHz
range that was actually radio and not cellular or something else I wasn't
supposed to be listening to. Once. If there are any local (to me, over here
the other side of Benton) agencies currently using 800 MHz, I haven't found
them.
I don't put much stock in the rumors that many of the local LEO's are about
to go to 800 MHz just any day now. I was hearing that two years ago when I
bought my first scanner. All the Bradley and Polk county frequencies that I
listened to with that scanner (which I was assured would soon be useless) are
the same frequencies I'm listening to now.
JG> Yep, the current GRE is the 2042, 1000ch (no cell)...but the 2035
JG> (original GRE 1000ch) is on sale for 329.97 (closeout) and from what
JG> I've seen it can be unlocked with a computer and software
I picked up a 2035 yesterday, and am currently playing with it. Have you
used a 2042? From reading the catalog descriptions, the differences appear
to be primarily in the firmware.
JG> I'll let you know if I see a 2004/5/6 in good shape used...
Thanks. After playing with the 2035, I'm not quite as enthusiastic about
buying one of the older ones, but I'd still like to keep that option open.
... All hope abandon, ye who enter messages here.
